KINGS SIZE CHALLENGE: Sheldon High School is one of eleven high
school participating in a fun Kings ticket sales program to help fundraise!
Sheldon High School "drafted" Jon Brockman as our team sponsor in the event
and chose the March 22nd game against the Memphis Grizzlies as our
fundraiser game. Ten percent of Kings ticket sales through the
challenge will come back to Sheldon High. There is also an opportunity
for some of Sheldon's groups to perform at the arena on game night.
Currently we are working on a performance showcasing Precision Dance Team
and Universal Rhythm at the pregame.
We are
competing with Pleasant Grove and Laguna Creek in the Silver Conference for
the competition as well as against other schools in the Purple and Black
Conferences. We are competing for:
A
Kings size trophy representing the school's achievement.
Play on the Kings Court - opportunity to use the Kings court at ARCO
Arena.
The Grand Prize as the overall winner and the Kings Cup Trophy to
showcase at our school for a year and the utilization of one suite at a
Kings game during the 2009-2010 or 2010-2011 season.

on the links below for more information or to purchase tickets.
Tickets must be purchased through the website below or through our Kings
representative to count in the competition and be credited for our
fundraiser. There are a couple of really good deals available through
the program including seats in the lower lever that normally sell for $89.50
for $49.50. Another advantage of buying tickets through the link below
is you are able to avoid the Ticketmaster fees.

JUNIOR PROM: Junior Prom is Saturday, March
20 at Masonic Temple Ballroom on J Street in Downtown Sacramento. The
theme is "Tonight Never Dies," and the colors are red, black, white and gold.
Guest passes are out now and are due Friday, February 12. Tickets will
go on sale February 16th for $30 with ASB and $35 without. Prices go
up March 1 to $35 and $40 and ticket sales end Friday, March 12. Guest
pass prices are $40. There will be no ticket sales on finals day,
March 4th and 5th or at the door so plan accordingly. Doors open on
March 20th at 8:00 and close at 9:30pm. There are no reentries if you
leave early and the prom ends at midnight. You must have a signed
dance contract on file for this school year to purchase your ticket; please
make sure you have reviewed the dress code and are familiar with the
requirements. If you lose your receipt we will have a list at the door
but please remember all students must have a current Sheldon ID card to gain
admittance. Lifetouch will be on campus for early pictures in the
cafeteria from 4:30-6:30pm the night of the prom. By taking advantage
of the early pictures you can look fresh and clean for your pictures and
don't need to worry as much about spilling at dinner or getting sweaty at
the dance. You should also experience a shorter waiting time and a
smaller line. Pictures will also be available at Masonic Temple.
Information on picture packages and pricing can be found
here. Please make checks
payable to Prestige Portraits for picture packages.
SCHOOL ACCOUNTABILITY REPORT CARDS AVAILABLE:
The current School Accountability Report
Cards (SARC), containing data from the 2008-2009 school year, are available
online at the Elk Grove Unified School District website at
http://www.egusd.net/schools/sarcs/index.cfm. Both a long detailed
format and a short executive summary are posted for parents to learn more
about the schools in our community.
Each school’s SARC summarizes the school's
mission, goals, accomplishments, and highlights the school’s unique
programs. In addition, state law requires that the SARC contain all of the
following: demographic data, school safety and
climate for learning information, academic data, school completion rates,
class sizes, teacher and staff information, curriculum and instruction
descriptions, postsecondary preparation information, fiscal and expenditure
data.
The federal No
Child Left Behind law requires that SARCs contain reports concerning the
"adequate yearly progress" of students in achieving state academic
achievement standards; Title I Program Improvement status; graduation rates
at the secondary level; and the extent to which "highly qualified" teachers
are teaching core academic subjects.
A hard
copy of these reports can be requested by visiting your child’s school
office. Additionally, these reports have been translated in Spanish,
Vietnamese, and Hmong at schools with large populations of families who
speak these languages. Any questions regarding the SARCs can be answered by
your child’s principal or by contacting Learning Support Services at
686-7712.
AIR
AND WASTE MANAGEMENT ASSOCIATION GRANT (MOTHER LODE CHAPTER): The
Sheldon Science Department is proud to announce that they have received a
grant from the Air and Waste Management Association to help fund the ecology
class for the 2009-2010 school year. This grant will allow students to
analyze air, solid, and water pollutants affecting ecosystems as well as the
social impact. Sheldon High School would like to thank the Air and Waste
Management Association for this funding and opportunity for our students.
