ESLRs
are Expected School-wide Learning Results. Created by the
Franklin High and Toby Johnson Middle School planning team,
the ESLRs act as a guide for students, staff and parents
in following and assessing a student's progress in school.
Statement
of Beliefs
The
staff of FHS/TJMS believes that:
- Our
nation's destiny lies with our children: their potential
is our greatest resource; their development is our highest
priority.
- Every
student has the right to learn.
- Every
student can learn when given the opportunity.
- All
students need to be challenged to reach their full potential.
- There
is a direct relationship between expectation and achievement.
- The
parent is the child's first and most influential teacher.
- Students,
educators, parents, and the school community share responsibility
for children's education.
- Human
diversity enriches individuals and society.
- Respect,
honesty, responsibility, and integrity are essential in
the educational environment.
- Learning
is a lifelong process.
Guiding
Principles
FHS/TJMS believe all students should
be provided with:
- A
common core curriculum that prepares them for higher educational
opportunities.
- High
standards that apply to all students.
- Various
career paths that provide a "school to career"
link with the job market and higher education
-
The knowledge and skill necessary to attain optimal health
and physical fitness, and to maintain both throughout
their lives.
- Opportunity
for personal development through cultural, athletic, and
extra-curricular activities.
- An
atmosphere that fosters mutual respect, sensitivity to
students' needs, and cooperative, collegial behavior.
- Opportunity
to contribute positively to their society and community.
- A
