Objective:

You are to look to take a look at a Star Wars fan film.  A fan film is a short film, shot on video and edited on a home computer.  While there are many types of fan films, Star Wars fan films typically feature many special effects.  These films require not only good video production skills, but also CAD (skills to create the space ships and virtual sets) and compositing software skills.

View the movie Revelations.  Budget your time. 

 

Watch Revelations movie (47 minutes)

 

Watch Revelations Special Effects (3 minutes)

 

Watch Revelations Inside Report (7 minutes)

 

  1. Write a synopsis of the film (what is the story about) 100 words.
  2. After watching the Revleations_effects.mov write how Zap improved the screen he worked on. (about 50 words)
  3. Write a critique of how you liked the film.  Discuss what you thought was successful about it, and discuss what you didn’t like about it (100 words)

Log into the server and find the fold titled “FAN FILMS.” Open this folder and Copy the Duality folder and the Revelations folder to your own Movie folder.  DO NOT WATCH THE MOVIES FROM THE SERVER.  Watch them form your own hard drive.  Watch everything in the Duality folder first and answer the following questions.   

 

  1. Watch the first film Mark and Dave made, Dual (one minute, 36 seconds) The film is in the folder on the server titled STAR WARS FAN FILMS.
  2. Watch the video Duality (six minutes 20 seconds).
  3. Watch the video Duality Storyboards (six minutes 20 seconds). 
  4. Handwrite your name and period on a blank sheet of lined paper.  Write “Assignment #8 Stars Wars Fan Film Duality” at the top. Go to the www.crewoftwo.com and click on each section of the website to answer the questions below.
