Project 1 Script
50 points possible
INSTRUCTIONS: Based on the type of project you are doing, you will turn in a script or outline as follows:
Short Film (5 minutes
max)
Follow the proper script format. Type your script in Celtx. Place names of the group at the top.
Script should time out to no longer than five minutes. Script should be five pages long (six pages maximum).
Music Video (3
minutes max)
Using a Microsoft Word document include the following:
1. Name of group members
2. Name of musician or band
3. Lyrics
4. Brief description of what the music video is about
5. List of locations and a description of every shot needed. The more shots the better, as music videos require a lot of fast cuts. For example:
INT. JOHNS’ HOUSE – BEDROOM - NIGHT
MS: John sits on corner of bed looking sad
CU: John holds his face in his hands
MS: John picks up guitar and sits on bed
MS: John laying on bed with guitar over his belly.
XCU: John’s fingers playing guitar over sound hole
XCU: John’s fingers holding chord on the fret board.
EXT. TRAIN TRACKS – DAY
ELS: John walks along train tracks
LS: John walks along train tracks
MS: John walks along train tracks
CU: John’s feet walk along track.
Documentary (3
minutes max)
1. List the members of your group
2. Describe what your documentary is about in one sentence
3. Describe what you documentary is about in a paragraph
4. Describe what you hope your audience will take away from your film.
5. List each person to appear in the documentary and the questions you will ask them.
6. List the kind of b-roll you will need to obtain (archival) or shoot.
7. List each location you will need to shot at and what you will need (interviews – b-roll).
Surreal Experimental (3
minutes max)
1. List the members of your group
2. Describe in one sentence what your film is about.
3. Describe in one paragraph what your film will look like.
4. Describe how you hope your audience will respond to this work.
5. Break down the locations and shots needed as described in the Music Video section above.
Commercial (Need both
60 second and 30 second versions)
