Instructions:  In a word processing program, submit an idea for an original (fiction) television series.  Provide the following information on your document:

 

1. Length: (30 minutes or 60 minute episodes)

 

2. Genre: (Examples: Situation Comedy “Sit Com” (Seinfeld); Action (24); Mystery (Medium); Police/Detective (CSI); Western (Gun Smoke & Little House on the Prairie); Family Dynamics (7th Heaven); Medical (House & Grey’s Anatomy). 

 

3. Characters: (Describe a minimum of four characters.  Provide the following:

            Name:

Age:

Gender:

Ethnicity:

            Personality Description:

 

4. Premise: The premise of a film is the "situation." It is usually describable in a sentence or two: "It's about a suburban boy who encounters an extra terrestrial, makes friends, and helps him get away from the cold scientists who want to study him and back to his own planet. Read this definition of premise.

 

5. Pilot Pitch: Pitch an idea for the pilot episode.   Read this definition of pilot episode. Provide a simple description of the story of your first episode.

Important: Note that you need to copy and past this assignment into a post on Discusion Question #3 on SchoolLoop and then comment on one other student’s submission.  For this reason, you should try to have this done by the seven days of this grading period so that students have time to comment on your work. 

 

Grading Criteria: Include all five of the required elements.  Concept and characters must appear entertaining.
