about Florin High

Florin High NJROTC

The Florin High School NJROTC program curriculum is divided into four levels of Naval Science.  Each level corresponds to the number of years a student has participated in a JROTC program.  Course content of each curriculum is prescribed by the host service as directed by U.S. Congress.  The school district in cooperation with the host service sponsors the NJROTC program in an effort to instill in students the values of citizenship, service to the United States, personal responsibility, and a sense of accomplishment.

The programs objectives are to:

  • Promote patriotism
  • Develop informed and responsible citizens
  • Promote habits of orderliness and precision
  • Develop a high degree of personal honor, self-reliance, individual discipline, and leadership
  • Promote an understanding of the basic elements and need for national security
  • Develop respect for and an understanding of the need for authority in a democratic society
  • Promote community service
  • Provide incentives to live healthy, drug free lives
  • Develop leadership potential
  • Provide an alternative to gangs
  • Promote high school completion

To accomplish these objectives, the program engages in a myriad of activities that require the students to expand their capabilities academically, physically, and socially in leadership intensive group dynamic situations.
