Principal's Message
Hello Robert J. Fite Students and Families!
Welcome to the 2010-2011 school year. My name is Elizabeth Rueda and I am proud to be the principal of Robert J. Fite Elementary School. I began as principal in February, 2010. My experience at Fite has been wonderful and I look forward to another awesome year working with students, families, and teachers to make this school year a positive and motivating experience for all.
I come to Fite with several years experience as a site administrator and classroom teacher. Currently, this is my fifteenth year working in education—thirteen of which have been in Elk Grove Unified School District. As a product of Elk Grove schools, and now a parent of EGUSD students, I consider myself lucky to live and work in this community. It is my belief that we offer our students a plethora of educational and life-enriching experiences day to day.
On a personal note, I was raised and attended elementary, middle and high school in Elk Grove. Given the positive experience I had growing up in this community, my husband and I elected to return to Elk Grove to raise our children here as well. Both my son and daughter currently attend Cosumnes River Elementary School, within our district. My school experiences in Elk Grove have been extremely positive and my hope is to help to provide the same for each and every one of our families at Fite.
My goal is to ensure all students achieve their greatest potential. To become life-long learners, our students need the support of their families, teachers, support staff and administration. Communication and involvement are a necessity to make this a reality. Incentive programs and opportunities for parent involvement are being implemented to help create the most positive learning environment for our students.
Unfortunately, the challenges we faced last year continue. Budget cuts are part of the new “normal” for us in education. We will continue to ask for your support—volunteer support, material support and even financial support (through fundraisers). We know how much a quality education means to your family and we are committed to providing it!
I want to encourage you this year in particular to join and support our PTO. This group has helped us through many of the challenges we have faced. While the board is composed of only a small representation of our dedicated families, their commitment to helping us achieve our mission is steadfast. Visit their web site: www.fitepto.org for information about upcoming events and information about opportunities to support our school.
I am excited about working together to make the 2010-2011 school year the best ever!!
I encourage you to email, call, or stop by anytime to share any thoughts, concerns, suggestions, or insights with me. My email is: erueda@egusd.net and/or phone number is (916) 689-2854. Again, welcome to Robert J. Fite Elementary, Home of the Fabulous Falcons!
Sincerely,
Elizabeth D. Rueda, Principal
