Stone Lakes National Wildlife Refuge

On November 27, 2007, Calvine High School students worked with members of the Sacramento Tree Foundation on a large habitat restoration project. Students planted baby oak trees, cleared invasive weeds from exisiting trees, and performed annual maintenance on the irrigation system setup to water the trees during the dry summer months. Students then reflected on their volunteer service and the value to their community of having good citizens, and large open
space areas for recreation and leisure.
