What if I need extra help with my classes?

You can apply for the ESS program and it looks a little something like this:

Purpose:  To empower students with the skills necessary to be successful in the classroom. This program will establish and reinforce positive study and organizational skills, CAT6 Testing strategies, and provide direct, personal curriculum assistance.  Students will also be given the opportunity to remediate content standards from failed subjects.

Requirements for admission into ESS after school program:

  • Failing one or more classes or receiving D’s in several classes

  • Recommendation from a teacher, counselor, or parent/guardian

  • Danger of failing based on progress report grades

  • Homework, Study skills, Organizational concerns

  • Student is not working at his/her potential

  • Student needs to make up credit(s) from failed classes

Check with your counselor for more information or click here.

What supplies do I need for PE?

You are required to have a PE shirt and shorts, combination lock and a Physical Education Lab Manual. All items are available in the Snack Shack. Check out the Snack Shack link to view items and print out an order form.

Can I attend a dance if I am off track?

All off track students are more than welcome to attend a school dance. They must have a current ID and a permission slip which can be found on the Forms link on this web site. Print it up and fill it out. Your student should bring the permission slip with them when they purchase their ticket. Tickets should be purchased on the day of the dance and they can do so in the Snack Shack just before the dance is to begin.

How can I meet with my counselor?

Students should always go to the office window located on the back side of the office. The office staff will take care of all office needs including counselor appointments.

What is there to do at lunch?

We have a wide variety of lunch time activities here at T.R. Smedberg Middle School. The blacktop is open most days for pick up games. The school will supply footballs, basketballs, soccer balls and jump ropes. Just make sure you return all items to the cart at the end of lunch. We also provide lunch time athletic leagues throughout the year. In the Fall we will have the Home Run Derby. This will be followed by Flag Football which runs from October to January. February will kick off our 3 on 3 Basketball League. This will then turn into a tournament in Mach. All leagues will conclude with the winning team playing the staff in an after school event. Listen for announcements and information tables in The Quad at lunch.

The rest of the week in terms of lunch time activities breaks down as follows:

Tuesday – Movie Days on the Cafeteria Stage
Thursday – Quad Activity provided by WEB
Friday – Quad Games for Track of the Year points and prizes.

Other activities to look forward to throughout the year are live bands, monthly birthday parties, DJs and some clubs meet during the lunch periods or after school. Check out the list of clubs  for dates and times of meetings.

* Please contact the Activities Director if you have any questions. We just might add your question to the FAQs page.
